I have been inspired to begin to document some of the projects I have been involved with by the fantastic people I work with. I hope that by sharing some of my work you will see how I could work with you and your teams to get things done and make a difference.

Keeping My Feet On The Ground

This term I am working for two days a week in the nursery class of a primary school.

The school have asked me to continue my consultancy support through this practical consultancy approach.

Keep your feet on the ground and your thoughts at lofty heights. - Peace Pilgrim

It’s going to give me the opportunity to get back to my roots of day to day teaching and learning and hopefully work with the Early Years Team to build on their good practice and move things further forward.

I really believe the most important aspect of our work in early years is building positive relationships with children, parents and staff team. The joy of working in early years is the team work and partnerships you develop and the fact that together we can achieve more.

So what’s going to be important over this term?

  • Listening: to each other, especially the children. Using every sense and all our skills to understand each child and family.
  • Settling In: allowing everyone time to get to know each other and the children to feel confident enough to show us all the things they already know and can do.
  • Challenge & Fun: challenging our own thinking and expectations and making sure we nurture and challenge children’s thinking whilst having lots of fun along the way.

A parent said it to me many many years ago and I totally agree...

He’s only 3 once and I want him to enjoy it!
